A VOLKSTEDT TWO-HANDLED SHAPED OVAL STAND CIRCA 1770 Painted with a large central bouquet surrounded by scattered bouquets and flower-sprays, the alt Brandenstein ozier-moulded border with four sprays, the ends with pierced rocaille-moulded handles enriched in puce (surface lacquered disguising repairs, slight flaking to enamels with slight retouching) 17 1/8 in. (43.3 cm.) wide Lot Notes This stand bears similarities in form and decoration to the service produced by Volkstedt for the Prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt in 1766, illustrated in Volkstedter Porzellan, 1760-1800, Th?ringer Landesmuseum Heidecksburg, Rudolstadt, Exhibition Catalogue (1999), pp. 200-206.
