LOT 158 A 'FAMILLE-VERTE' YELLOW-GROUND BISCUIT DISH KANGXI MARK AND PERIOD measurements note diameter 14 in., 35.6 cm DESCRIPTION the interior decorated with a central medallion of double incised outline enclosing two sinuous five-clawed dragons picked out in green and aubergine enamel in mutual pursuit of a 'flaming pearl' amidst clouds, surrounded by peony, chrysanthemum, prunus and lotus sprays along the curved side, the exterior with four further dragons, all on a pale yellow ground CATALOGUE NOTE Compare a similar dish sold at Christie's Paris, 26th November 2002, lot 106; and a slightly smaller example sold at Christie's Amsterdam, 3rd May 1989, lot 182. A dish of this design and shape is illustrated in Liu Liang-yu, Ch'ing Official and Popular Ware, A Survey of Chinese Ceramics, vol. 5, Taipei, 1991, p. 78.
