A TOURNAI COFFEE-CUP AND SAUCER CIRCA 1760, GILT TOWER MARKS The cup with a scroll handle enriched in gilding, the body finely painted in puce cama?eu with an extensive estuary scene with figures at discussion beside a leaning tree before a port with a tall dilapidated building, a tower and distant ships, the saucer with a river landscape with figures on a rocky outcrop by a tree before a distant town with a windmill and a tower, each vignette on gilt scroll and trellis supports, gilt line rims (saucer with very minor wear to centre and rim) (2) For two plates apparently decorated by the same hand and with similar gilt supports, see Guy Blazy, La Porcelaine de Tournai dans les collections publiques et priv?es du nord de la France, Saint-Omer, mus?e de l'h?tel Sandelin octobre - d?cembre 1987 Exhibition Catalogue, p. 44, nos. 24-25.
